Crop disease management

With the winter cropping season here and crops in the ground, emerging threats from disease, weeds and pests need to be continuously monitored and managed. There are over 180 trials in OFT that have explored issues on managing crop disease, including disease resistant crop varieties, application of fungicides to manage disease levels and sustainable management of stubble to reduce threats from disease. There is a set of trials covering particular crop diseases, including: Rhizoctonia, Stripe rust, Common root rot, Fusarium crown rot, Sclerotinia stem rot, Loose smut and Septoria tritici blotch. In managing crop disease, trials exploring aspects of alternative crops and pastures as disease and pest breaks are also provided.
