Trial details

Researcher(s) Gavin Bignell (Liebe Group)
Year(s) 2004
Contributor Liebe Group
Trial location(s) East Maya, WA
Wheat variety demonstration locations
Aims

To assess the yield and quality of a range of wheat varieties in the L2 rainfall zone.

Key messages
  • Carnamah was the highest yielding variety and returned the greatest gross margin.
  • Two recently released varieties, Blanco and Shenton, don't appear to be well suited to this environment.
  • There was no rust seen in this trial. If disease was present some of the newer varieties may have performed better than Carnamah and Wyalkatchem.
