Nutrient status of some solodized soils in south-eastern Queensland locations
Aims

To establish native fertility of soils in south-east Queensland.

Key messages
  • The nutrient status of five virgin soils were examined in pots in the glasshouse using nutrient additions (omission experiment).
  • Four of the five soils were deficient in molybdenum.
  • Liming to pH 6.5 without trace element addition depressed yields, presumably due to molybdenum deficiency.
  • One soils responded to zinc but there were no responses to copper or manganese.
