Effect of copper and zinc on wheat on newly cleared grey sand over yellow gravelly sand locations
Aims

To determine the rates of copper and zinc required for maximum grain yield of wheat.

Key messages
  • Zinc reduced yield of wheat with Cu nil. Cu application gave a small yield increase without Zn applied.
  • Combination of 5.5 kg Cu sulfate and 1.7 kg Zn oxide gace maximum yield.
  • There was no evidence that further additions of Cu and Zn was needed in subsequent years.
