Aims

To determine the rates of copper and zinc required for maximum grain yield of wheat grown on  yellow gravelly sand.

Key messages
  • Cu increased with Zn or without Zn added to superphosphate.  
  • All Zn depressed yield when no  Cu, 2.75 & 5.5 Kg/ha had been applied.
  • With Zn nil and 0.8 kg Zn O Cu at 5.5 kgCu sul/ha gave maximum yield grain yield.Sulfate gave higher yield.
  • For wheat, combination of Cu sulfate (5.5 kg Cu sulfate) and nil  KgZno /ha required for maximum yields.
  • Zn deficiency symptoms seen extensive in wheat grown on Aerophos + gypsm  
  • Plain superphosphate yield higher than Aerophos +gypsum suggested  Zn soil is marginal and Zn addition (0.8 kg/ha) recommended for Oats and Clover.
