Copper, zinc and nitrogen for wheat following clover ley on orange brown gravelly loamy sand over consolidated ironstone country at Newdegate locations
Aims

Copper, Zinc and nitrogen   required for maximum grain yield of wheat following clover ley grown on orange  brown gravellysand over consolidated ironstone

Key messages
  • The addition of copper and zinc fertiliser applied Cu was applied in 1957.

  • Cu ore, Cu sulfate and zinc chloride source used.

  • In 1957 Zn chloride reduced yields. There were no reduction in yield in 1959

  • Zn applied in 1957 reduced grain yield where Nil Cu.

  • Cu  applied in 1959  did not increased grain yield of wheat.

  • Residual value of previous applied Cu & Zn were  good

  • Copper was applied as Cu ore equivalent to about 5 kg Cu sul/ha. There was no difference between Cu ore and bluestone [Cu sulfate] compared at the same rate of Cu applioed.

  • No further response  addition of Cu and or Zn.
