Canola establishment demonstration locations
Aims

To test the effectiveness of broadcasting canola into wheat stubble as a method of establishing a canola crop

Key messages

Establishment was highest where stubble was removed, however sufficient plants were established for a commercial crop where stubble remained standing rather than laying on the ground.

Conditions post spreading of the seed were perfect for establishment - seed spread onto moist soil, 30 mm of rain and cool temperates post rainfall - and a similar level of success may not be achievable evry season.
