Lentil, germplasm (sandy loam soil), LRZ South Australian Mallee (Pinnaroo), South Australia locations
Aims

To identify the best adapted lentil varieties to the variable soil types encountered in Mallee paddocks.

Key messages
  • There were no significant differences between treatments for any of the variables measured on the sandy loam soil.
  •  The mean grain yield across all treatments was 0.55 t/ha which was slightly higher than that achieved on the contrasting loam soil type (0.39 t/ha).  This outcome reflects higher levels of plant available water on lighter textured soils under low rainfall conditions such as those experienced in 2018.
