Aims

To quantify the effects of deep ripping, gypsum application and a new cultivation implement known as a Spader.

Key messages

Ripping has done a very little to increase grain yields at the Frances site. The application of gypsum has generally increased grain yield by 15-20% over the untreated control treatment.

Acknowledgments

Many thanks to the contributors to this project including Peter Hannaford for providing a trial site and a great deal of organisation, Lachie Jacob for providing a trial site and deep ripping the trial sites, Roger Groocick for spading the trial sites. Trial harvest was conducted by the SARDI new variety agronomy group at Struan.
