• To compare disease management strategies for minimum fungicide input and maximum grain yield and quality of new chickpea varieties.
• To demonstrate the much improved levels of ascochyta blight disease resistance in new varieties of chickpeas to SA growers.

• To determine the optimum fungicide strategy for disease control in Farah, Fiesta VF and Nura faba bean.

• To test the yield response of current and nearly released field pea varieties to changes in plant populations across the different field pea growing regions of NSW.

• To look at the yield responses of different field pea plant types to varying row spacing.

• To recommend agronomic and fungicide management strategies to minimise botrytis grey  mould infections and maximum grain yield and quality in the new lentil varieties.

• To test the yield response of current and newly released lentil varieties to changes in plant populations and sowing dates across the main lentil growing regions of SA.

Experiments were conducted on two different soil types to test if (a) amelioration of these subsoils with a mix of gypsum and organic peat would increase the ability of the soil to hold more ‘plant available’ water and (b) if this extra water availability, would assist crops to achieve a better yield.
