Evaluating lucerne varieties for the Mallee locations
Aims

To identify suitable lucerne varieties for the Mallee and test if there are differences in establishment, persistence and production between them.

Key messages

Good establishment and weed control is more important than varietal selection for productivity and persistence of lucerne • There was no significant difference in establishment or biomass production between lucerne varieties in 2007 and 2008 • This trial will continue in 2009 to further evaluate persistence and productivity
