Scald management in barley locations
Aims
  • To investigate whether barley varieties vary in their tolerance to scald.
  • To compare different management strategies for controlling scald in different barley varieties.
Key messages
  • Monitor all varieties regularly for scald, regardless of disease ratings.
  • A new virulent strain infected Hindmarsh crops in 2010.
  • Later sown crops are less likely to be infected.
