To determine the effect of sowing rate and nitrogen fertiliser timing on crop canopy development, grain yield and grain quality.
The slower development of MacKellar compared to Kellalac was associated with a higher tiller count in spring. However this did not translate to higher ear numbers, since with Kellalac 75% of tillers produced an ear, compared to 65% with
MacKellar (in Hamilton the opposite occurred).g/ha Sulphur.
