Aims

To verify the performance of recently released cultivars in local higher rainfall conditions and to assess the varietal resistance to the WA pathotype of stripe rust that seems to have maintained virulence throughout eastern Australia.

Key messages

With many varieties showing a high level of rust resistance throughout this trial (see Figure 3-2), it also appears that those varieties have lower quality or are classified feed. The only variety to show significant yield benefits from using fungicide is the only variety to have AH classification - Mitre.
