Assessment of soil pH; changes over time at historic sites sampled under a previous soil acidity project locations
Aims

To increase grower awareness of: the current status of soil acidification and the associated causes and impacts and associated need to address of soil acidification via the ongoing application of agricultural lime.

Key messages
  • Soil acidity is affecting grain yield. 2014 sampling of historic sites identified decline in pH at all sites except for Nyngan where the site had been returned to perrenial native pastures > 5 years.
  • Evidence of sub surface soil acidification was displayed at 3 out of the 5 historic sites.
