Brome grass control in lentils locations
Aims

To evaluate a range of herbicide combinations for controlling brome grass in lentils.

Key messages

There was no significant difference between the lentil counts, but there was a trend evident of some of the group C herbicides causing some slowness and even plant death. Rain events in the first month post planting were below average, it is likely that those herbicides that are known to have some level of toxicity to lentils (such as Metribuzin) were concentrated in the furrow and thus negatively affected some of the germinating plants. This apparent damage  highlights the importance of understanding how herbicides interact with the soil type, stubble loading and the planted crop.
