Aims

To understand management factors influencing cadmium concentration of grain in field grown wheat.

Key messages
  • Grain and soil samples were collected from 13 field experiments where zinc deficiency had been identified as a problem.
  • Zinc was applied in the field experiments at rates of 0-20 kg zinc/ha.
  • Application of zinc (2.5 - 5 kg/ha) reduced grain cadmium concentraitons by up to half.
