Amount and distribution of molybdenum in a bag of molybdenized superphosphate locations
Aims

To investigate the distribution of molybdenum in molybdenum superphosphate and implications for fertiliser use.

Key messages
  • An analysis of the distribution of molybdenum in bags of molybdenised superphosphate fertiliser.
  • Nearly half of the molybdenum present was contained in only one tenth of the carrying (superphosphate) material.
  • Separation into fine and coarse material lead to uneven distribution of molybdenum.
  • More molybdenum was associated with the finer than coarser material in the fertiliser bag.
  • Uneven distribution of molybdenum in the material has significant implications for fertiliser application to crops.
