Effect of copper and zinc on wheat on newly cleared sandy and gravelly laterite derived soils of the central wheatbelt locations
Aims

To determine the rates of copper and zinc required for maximum grain yield of wheat grown on  sandy and gravelly laterite soils .

Key messages
  • General location only as 15 experiments are summarised for 1965.
  • Summary of 15 experiments with 4 Cu and 4 Zn levels sandy and gravelly laterite derived soils
  • Cu increased grain yield in the absence or presence of Zn.
  • Cu application increased grain yield by 50%
  • Zn depressed grain yield at nil Cu
  • Combination of Cu sulfate (2.75 &  5.5 kg Cu sulfate) and 0.8 KgZnO /ha  gave for maximum yield.
