Manganese application methods for subclover grown on a very gravelly soil in West Dale district locations
Aims

To determine the methods and rates of Mn placement  required for maximum dry matter production of sub clover  grown on very gravelly soils in West Dale district.

Key messages

Mn defiiecy patches noted through the experiment al. Nil Mn were more severe

Topdressed Mn appeared the have similar symptoms to nil Mn

Drilled Mn at the low and high rate had less Mn symptoms

Mn foliar sprays had less Mn yellow patches.

Mn foliar sprays improved dry matter production by about 350 kg/ha in early- September

Mn foliar increased dry matter by 1200- 1500 kg/ha by late-September.

Topdressed Mn less effective than drilled
