Trial location(s) Macgillivray,
Spader demonstration sites locations
Aims

The spader trials were set up at several sites ranging from 0.5 ha to whole paddocks. The growers wanted
the spader to incorporate clay, lime and/or organic matter, or just improve the friability of the soil.

Key messages

Growers taking part in the trials were hoping that the spader would create a more uniform soil by mixing clay throughout the root zone and breaking up impermeable clay at depth and help reduce waterlogging.
