Aims
  • To provide a long-term yield evaluation of “Kaspa type” field pea varieties and their self-regenerating blends in five key field pea production regions across the state.
Key messages
  • Kaspa continues to show a yield advantage over earlier maturing varieties and blends in
    regions with high yield potential (eg Turretfield). This is due to its later maturity and
    subsequent higher yield potential.
  • Earlier maturing varieties and blends will generally provide better yield stability compared to
    Kaspa in lower yielding situations/seasons eg Minnipa, Snowtown.
  • At sites with generally lower yield potential (eg Minnipa, Snowtown), blends containing Kaspa
    may confer a yield advantage over earlier maturing varieties in some favourable seasons (eg
    Snowtown in 2013).
