Stirling, WA
Aims
To assess the impact of deep ripping on barley and canola yield on sand over gravel and deep sand soil types in the South Stirling area of WA.
Key messages
Yield increases from deep ripping ranged from 220 to 750 kg/ha.
Deep ripping demonstrations provide a tool to assess possible yield gains across various soil types.
Replicated trials are needed to validate the yield increases seen at this demonstration site.

Acknowledgments
The research undertaken as part of this project is made possible by the significant contributions of Reece Curwen who setup and hosted the trial with support from Jeremy Lemon of Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and the GRDC. A further thank you to Jeremy Lemon and Nathan Dovey for processing and access to the trial yield data. This assessment of the trial and report is funded by the GRDC through the Albany Region Cropping Solution Network.
