Aims

The aim of the experiment was to improve faba bean yields under conditions of high biomass production through understanding variety and agronomic performance.

Key messages

• Seasonal conditions were the major influence on faba bean performance.
• Earlier sowings were beneficial in 2015, with significantly increased yields and grain weight.
• Extremely dry spring conditions and a short harsh finish mean results should be interpreted with caution. Long-term data and additional information should be considered when making varietal or agronomic decisions.
