Aims

The trials evaluated responses in wheat and barley to increasing N rates.

Key messages

• In 2015 treatments with increased rates of N did not result in an increased yield in Trojan wheat or Compass and Bass barley.
• Increased N treatments tended to have increased wheat and barley protein levels.
• Seasonal conditions impacted on trial results; they should be interpreted with caution and used in conjunction with additional soil nutrition information.
• Soil testing and responding to the results is an important component in maximizing yield and profitability of farming enterprises.
