Aims

The challenge aimed to compare the grain yields and quality of milling oats, durum wheat, AH and APW wheat and feed and malt barley varieties.

Key messages

• Extremely dry conditions prevented cereals from expressing yield potential.
• No significant differences in yields between oat and wheat varieties.
• Compass barley significantly out-yielded Westminster
• Compass barley and Mace wheat were the highest yielding cereals.
