Chickpea Trials: Influence of Rhizobium Inoculation on the chickpea yield and profitability under surface irrigation (Kerang) locations
Aims

To evaluate the yield influence of granular inoculants and nitrogen fertiliser applied to chickpeas grown under surface irrigation.

Key messages

• Chickpeas had not been grown in the trial location and inoculation did result in improved nodulation of the chickpeas.
• Nodulation did not increase with higher rates of granular inoculum.
• Yield and harvest biomass were not influenced by the trial treatments. However grain size was improved with either inoculating the seed or applying 40 kg N/ha at sowing.
• WUE was 12.8 kg/mm
