Trial details

Aims

To evaluate the impact of Septoria tritici blotch on wheat of different resistant ratings and determine yield loss in the MRZ and LRZ of the Southern Australia

Key messages
  • Septoria tritici blotch (STB) severity varied between varieties. The more susceptible the variety the higher was the disease severity.
  • STB reduced grain yield (8-43%) and quality in wheat varieties in both Vic and SA MRZ, but only in the SA LRZ.
  • The severity and associated losses were highly related to seasonal rainfall and genetic resistance within the variety.
