This site was designed to demonstrate the practical implications of implementing Controlled Traffic and
Precision Agriculture practices

This demonstration was aimed at helping farmers to gain knowledge about alternate stubble management options.

The key aims of this project have been to develop agronomic guidelines and seeding technology solutions to allow for increased stubble retention practices, thereby reducing the dependence on burning. 

The aim of this study was to determine the optimal animal production and economic stocking rate for lambs grazing dual purpose wheat crops over winter and to assess the effects of different stocking rates and grazing intensity on subsequent plant growth and final
grain yield.

The aim of this investigation was to develop a means of enhancing stubble breakdown using nutrient supplements prior to planting of the next crop.

To determine:

• Which dual purpose cereal varieties respond favorably to Gippsland’s climatic conditions.
• Which new varieties may have commercialization potential.
• Which varieties are best suited to forage and grain production.

To assess dual purpose wheat, barley, triticale and oat varieties for DM production, recovery from grazing and grain yield. A further aim was to compare dry matter and feed quality of cereals with a tetraploid annual ryegrass used for over‐winter grazing prior to seed production.

The Grain and Graze program was keen to test the findings from extensive trial work with a group of farmers to see if the theories of grazing cereals provided the desired response under a range of conditions and farming situations. The financial gain from the exercise was also calculated.
